We frequently encounter mixed Wi-Fi environments with aging access points (APs) from multiple generations. We can identify obsolete APs that bottleneck throughput, degrade performance, or create unnecessary channel conflicts. A properly designed Wi-Fi network reduces channel overlap, minimizes AP density per channel, and ensures correct placement relative to sources of interference.

Upgrading to Gigabit-plus Ethernet switches with improved Power-over-Ethernet (PoE+) capabilities can significantly enhance overall Wi-Fi performance. Switch backplane capacity can also impact network performance. In some cases, performance issues stem from APs installed with cable runs that exceed Cat-5/Cat-6 distance limits, cables routed near lighting or electronics that introduce interference, or simply faulty cabling or faulty Cat-5-Cat6 terminations. We use professional Wi-Fi network testers and cable testers to verify port mapping, bandwidth, and switch connectivity. If fiberoptic cables are used, we have complete set of fiber optic testers, termination tools, and fiberoptic fusion splicers.
